Great Performances - What2Watch

The new performance documentary "Birgit Nilsson: A League of Her Own" celebrates the life and career of the Swedish dramatic soprano who became the face of opera for many from the 1950s through the 1970s, particularly in the vocally daunting operas of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. In addition to her gleaming, laser-focused voice, which seemed created to cut through any heavy orchestration, Nilsson also was known for her wit and sense of humor: She once registered her displeasure over a production's gloomy lighting by showing up for rehearsal wearing a miner's helmet.
